New music
In this enforced lockdown I have written a few new songs and they will be recorded for release in a few months. My producer Joe Card is preparing the tracks at his studio and I will record my own vocals at home. It’s good to have something to think about as I’ve now been “shielding” for 9 weeks.
I’ll keep you informed on the progress. I would guess they might be ready in August, but don’t hold me to that!
Hi-res versions of my music added to 7Digital
You can now listen to high quality lossless versions of my EPs via 7Digital All of my digital releases ( Find Yourself Soon will joing them shortly) should be there in 16 bit FLAC files. They really sound much better than the regular streams.
my catalogue being added to YouTube music
In the next few days all of my digital output will be available on YouTube. Some videos had been there for a while but now the official audio is being added, bringing ABOUT TIME, A BETTER DAY, SHOULD I MOVE ON?, WINTER TALES together on YouTube for the first time.
There is a Simon Bell - Topic page, but for some reason it also features material from another act with the same name, which I’m sure is as annoying to him as it is to me.
Dusty - 20 years gone.
20 years gone. It doesn’t seem possible.
It’s a year of multiple Dusty anniversaries. She would have been 80 in April, it’s 40 years since the iconic Drury Lane & Albert Hall concerts, and of course 50 years since the acclaimed Dusty In Memphis album was released.
A lot has been written of Memphis, usually observing that Dusty was terrified to be singing in this studios surrounded by the ghosts of soul music giants. If only she had been able to see what she brought to the project - a refinement and control that, combined with inspirational phrasing - added a layer to the Memphis sound that had had never been heard before.
I bet they were in awe of HER!
